The Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) is proud to recognize excellence in heart failure care through a variety of prestigious awards. These awards honor individuals and teams who have made significant contributions to the field. We invite you to submit nominations for the following awards:
Awards Open for Nominations on April 7
HFSA Rising Star Award
Recognizes one or more early-career professionals (within seven years of completing training) who demonstrate exceptional promise in heart failure. This award celebrates emerging leaders whose dedication, innovation, and contributions signal strong future impact on patient care, research, and/or the professional community.
HFSA Outstanding Fellow in Training (FIT) Award
Honors one or more fellows who demonstrate exceptional commitment to heart failure through excellence in clinical care, research, education, and/or leadership. Recipients show meaningful contributions during training and a clear dedication to professional growth, innovation, and service.
HFSA Distinguished Mentor Award
Recognizes one or more professionals with an outstanding record of mentoring and developing the next generation of heart failure clinicians and investigators. This award honors sustained mentorship that advances clinical practice, research, and leadership development.
HFSA Distinguished Service Award
Presented to one or more members whose exceptional service and dedication have significantly advanced the Society’s mission. This award recognizes impactful volunteer leadership, sustained engagement, and meaningful organizational contributions.
HFSA Outstanding Heart Failure Care Team Award
Honors one or more interdisciplinary teams that exemplify excellence in heart failure care delivery. Recognized teams demonstrate strong collaboration, innovation, and patient-centered approaches that improve outcomes and advance best practices.
HFSA Distinguished Nursing Research Award
Recognizes one or more nurses who have made significant contributions to heart failure research. This award honors innovative research that strengthens the evidence base for patient care and reflects a commitment to mentoring and developing future nurse investigators.
HFSA Distinguished Nursing Clinical Leader Award
Honors one or more nurses who demonstrate exceptional clinical leadership and expertise in heart failure care. Recipients are recognized for advancing nursing practice, improving patient outcomes, and serving as role models within the professional community.
HFSA Lifetime Achievement Award
Recognizes one or more individuals whose career-long contributions have profoundly advanced the field of heart failure. This highest honor celebrates sustained excellence in clinical care, research, education, and leadership, and a legacy of lasting influence.
How to Submit Recommendations
Your recommendations are crucial in recognizing and celebrating the dedication and impact of individuals and teams committed to improving patient outcomes and advancing the field. The next cycle for Awards opens April 7, 2026.
- Prepare Your Nomination: Gather all relevant information about the nominee, including their achievements and contributions.
- Complete the Nomination Form: Visit the HFSA website and fill out the nomination form for the specific award.
- Submit Your Nomination: Follow the instructions on the HFSA website to submit your completed nomination form.
