Update on the Proposed New Board of Cardiovascular Medicine

Practice News Certification

Jeffrey Kuvin, MD, chair of the proposed American Board of Cardiovascular Medicine, provides an update on the status of the application for a new cardiovascular board in a community letter posted to CVBoard.org. “As of today, we are still awaiting a final decision from the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) regarding our proposal,” he writes. “We remain steadfast in our belief that we have met all the necessary requirements for an independent board and continue to advocate for a certification process that reflects the unique needs of cardiovascular clinicians.” Kuvin reiterates the importance of all cardiovascular clinicians continuing to maintain their certification through currently approved pathways during this time, while promising to communicate the outcome of any ABMS decision as quickly and transparently as possible.
