Recent trends have shown a decline in applicants to advanced heart failure fellowship training programs, with an associated decrease in the rate at which training programs fill through the NRMP match. With expanding populations of patients with heart failure, more advanced practice providers (APPs) are similarly needed. In this session, we discuss the unmet patient demand, the novel roles for AHFTC providers, and APP education and skillsets, in efforts to increase interest in heart failure training and improve the state of HF teams.
