Managing Long-Term, Non-Cardiac Comorbidities in Heart Recipients: I Got a Heart! Now What?
Heart transplantation offers a life-saving solution for many patients with end-stage heart failure. The long-term success for recipients often depends on other medical comorbidities. This session will explore the non-cardiac conditions that heart transplant recipients often face, including renal insufficiency, metabolic disorders, acute and chronic infections, and malignancy, and how the long-term use of immunosuppressive therapy contributes to these conditions. Attendees will gain insights into best practices for optimizing medical comorbidities in these high-risk individuals and enhancing graft survival.
