Making Heart Failure Data Count: HFSA Stats Call to Action!
This session will provide an overview of the HFSA's HF Stats initiative. First, four proposed talks will describe current trends in HF epidemiology, discuss temporal trends for increases in HF hospitalizations and mortality in the United States, and compare and contrast HF epidemiology globally versus in the United States, present information on the economic burden of heart failure along with cost effectiveness/values, and finally a talk will focus on systems of care and implementation of therapies to improve outcomes.
Next, a panel will discuss the epidemiology of HF in the United States. The panelists will have a focused discussion on the potential causes of the worsening in HF mortality and the need for a combined HF awareness campaign. Furthermore, the panelists will discuss how to better implement known, mortality-reducing HF therapies and how to incentivize novel research investigating new approaches to HF management.
