How To Session: LVAD Troubleshooting/Devices
Durable mechanical circulatory support (MCS) is a critical treatment option for patients with advanced heart failure and cardiogenic shock. Clinical assessment and troubleshooting of MCS equipment—whether at the bedside, in the clinic, or at home—are essential skills for the advanced heart failure practitioner. This session will focus on three clinical scenarios related to LVAD care, with the goal of educating attendees on best practices in accordance with the 2023 HFSA Expert Consensus Statement on the Medical Management of Patients on Durable Mechanical Circulatory Support.
Each fifteen-minute breakout session will begin with a case presentation by an early- to mid-career faculty member and include two targeted pause points to facilitate audience Q&A. During these interactive segments, mid- to senior-level faculty will engage with the audience to discuss diagnostic and therapeutic algorithms, share expert perspectives, and reinforce key clinical decision-making strategies.
