Targeting Obesity to Treat Heart Failure
This session will bring together basic, translational, and clinical investigators to examine mechanisms and contemporary approaches related to the intersection of obesity and heart failure. Obesity is present in the majority of patients with HFpEF and also common in HFrEF. In order to understand and manage this growing population, there is a need to understand the mechanistic link between adiposity and heart failure, the overlap between obesity and sarcopenia in phenotypic presentations, new medications to treat obesity in heart failure, and non-pharmacologic modalities to manage obesity in heart failure.
