"The State of the Specialty" Town Hall

This session will focus attention on the current state of heart failure as a cardiology subspecialty, reflecting on the results of the recent fellowship match and the potential factors driving waning interest in subspecialty heart failure training. The session will begin with a review of the recent report from the advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology (AHFTC) consensus conference and then move forward in rapid-fire fashion to brief perspectives on the problem from different vantage points (fellows, program directors, underrepresented minority groups, nursing, HFSA, and other societies). The program will conclude with a vision for how AHFTC training should evolve to make it more appealing to trainees and a moderated discussion among the panelists.
